LOlympique de Marseille began their Ligue 1 season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Stade de Reims at the Orange Vélodrome on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
The hosts got off to a strong start and took the lead in the first half through Azzedine Ounahi. Vitinha doubled the advantage in the second half, but Reims pulled a goal back late on through Luis Suárez.

Marseille doubled their lead in the 55th minute as Vitinha latched onto a cross from Jonathan Clauss and headed home from close range.
Suárez Pulls One Back for Reims:
Reims gave themselves a lifeline in the 80th minute when Suárez headed home a cross from Ilan Kebbal.
Marseille Hold On for Victory:
Despite Reims' late goal, Marseille held on for the win, with Pau López making a crucial save in the dying minutes to deny Marshall Munetsi.
The win moves Marseille up to fifth in the Ligue 1 table, while Reims remain in 15th place.
